DECIMAL EQUIVALENTS OF FRACTIONS USED IN MEASUREMENTS
HouseWerks uses, and requests that you use, decimal equivalents, not fractions, of inches when communicating measurements regarding the design of a shelving unit.
To calculate prices of shelving units, all measurements in linear inches are divided by 12 to convert to linear feet. Measurements in linear feet (lf) are not rounded off before prices are calculated.
The most commonly used decimal equivalents for shelving measurements are as follows:
0.063" used for 1/16"
0.125" used for 2/16" = 1/8"
0.188" used for 3/16"
0.250" used for 4/16" = 2/8" = 1/4"
0.313" used for 5/16"
0.375" used for 6/16" = 3/8"
0.438" used for 7/16"
0.500" used for 8/16" = 4/8" = 1/2"
0.563" used for 9/16"
0.625" used for 10/16" = 5/8"
0.688" used for 11/16"
0.750" used for 12/16" = 6/8" = 3/4"
0.813" used for 13/16"
0.875" used for 14/16" = 7/8"
